Shauna Gilligan was born in Dublin in 1972. Her debut novel is Happiness Comes from Nowhere (London, Ward Wood, 2012). Other publications include Mantles (2021) and Fire (2024, both Dublin: Arlen House). She has received numerous awards for writing including the Cecil Day Lewis Literary Bursary for Literature (2015) and the Irish Writers Centre Jack Harte Bursary (2025). Having lived in Mexico, Spain and the UK, she currently resides in County Kildare.
